ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to repair a failing stormwater pond located near 10408 Stansfield Road in Laurel, has begun. The project includes replacing the principal spillway barrel with a reinforced concrete spillway barrel, as well as repairing the existing outlet structure. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late February 2027.

Signs have been posted in the project area to alert residents of the construction work, which will take place Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the corresponding temporary lane closures. Weather permitting, the temporary lane closures will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. weekdays, beginning Monday, November 2nd through Friday, November 20th. The closure will begin with the closing of westbound Stanfield Road from 10416 to 10404 for approximately a week and a half, followed by the eastbound lane.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.

The project is funded through the County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund.
