ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to relocate and upsize approximately 1,500 feet of an existing eight-inch cast iron water pipe with a 12-inch PVC pipe along US 1 from 10092 Washington Boulevard to North Laurel Road in North Laurel, is expected to begin on or about Monday, October 5th. The relocation of the waterline will allow for drainage and sidewalk improvements in the area, as well as increase the volume of water being supplied to North Laurel. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-December 2026.
Signs will be posted to alert motorists and residents of the construction, and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic through the work zone as temporary right lane closures along southbound US 1 in the project area and along west North Laurel Road from the intersection to Linville Avenue, is expected during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
