ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County capital project to replace approximately 1,100 linear feet of existing water main along Red Barn Way between Mayfield Avenue and Mayfield Woods Middle School at 7950 Red Barn Way in Elkridge, is expected to begin on or about Monday, September 16th. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late November 2024.
While the work is being done, portions of northbound Red Barn Way, westbound Well Water Way and eastbound Mayfield Avenue located within the construction zone, will be closed to traffic during construction hours, Monday, through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Weekend work and nighttime work from 10:00 p.m. Friday to 4:00 a.m. Monday, can also be expected during system connection work.
Residents in the project area will also experience a temporary water loss while their property is connected to the temporary water supply line and later, to the new water main. Residents will be notified in advance of this work.
Signs will be posted to alert the public of the project and corresponding lane closures, and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
