ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to stabilize sections of the Beaver Run stream along Cape Anne Drive between South Carlinda Avenue and Cotton Mill Lane in Columbia, is expected to begin on or about Monday, September 8th. To protect the area’s water and sewer infrastructure, the project includes the installation of riffle grade controls and other fill material to cover the exposed water and sewer lines and stone walls to stabilize the streambank. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-December 2025.

While the project is not expected to impact the flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area, signs have been posted to alert community members of the construction work, which is expected to take place Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This project is part of the Department of Public Work’s Sewer Asset Management Program to coordinate and centralize sewer utility management efforts to extend the useful life of the County’s sewer assets or restore degrading functionality.
