ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to perform preventative bridge maintenance and improvements on Snowden River Parkway southbound over Robert Fulton Drive in Columbia, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, July 7th. The project includes the installation of a new bridge deck, westside exterior beam, and coat of paint on the existing beams, and upgraded traffic barriers. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by February 2027.
Signs will be posted and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic, as one lane of southbound traffic will be closed throughout construction as each phase of the project is completed. Two southbound travel lanes will however remain open.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
This project is a part of the County’s Rehabilitation of Nine Bridge Structures project funded under the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act program.
