ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to repair and improve a stormwater management pond near 8304 Painted Rock Road in Columbia, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, July 28th. The project includes replacing the existing metal spillway pipe and riser with a reinforced concrete principal spillway pipe and riser structure, as well as grading and stabilization work. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late February 2026.

Signs will be posted to alert residents of the work and flagging operations will be in place to assist construction vehicles entering and exiting the project site during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.

The project is funded through the County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund.
