ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to perform preventative bridge maintenance and improvements at 1355 Henryton Road over the Patapsco River Tributary in Marriottsville, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, June 1st. The project includes repairing the bridge deck and support walls, as well as upgrading the existing traffic barriers to improve roadway safety. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-August 2026.
Signs will be posted to alert residents and motorists of the construction work, expected to take place Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and corresponding lane closure. During the project, a temporary traffic signal will be erected within the construction area to guide motorists through the area as the southbound lane of Henryton Road will be closed during Phase I of the project and the northbound lane during Phase II.
While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
