Ellicott City – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball provided an update today regarding the anticipated State Mass Vaccination site at the Mall in Columbia. The Mass Vaccination site is set to have a soft-opening in the previous Lord & Taylor space at the Mall in Columbia on April 30th, 2021 on an appointment-only basis.

Howard County is a central location in Maryland and easily accessible to many residents from across the state. We worked diligently with the Governor and our State partners to finalize logistical details and agreements for this site, and are excited to see it open this week. While 53.5% of Howard County residents have received at least a first dose and 37% of residents are fully vaccinated, we welcome this opportunity to expand availability to even more of our residents and the region.

The Mass Vaccination Site will be open weekly from Wednesday through Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm, and will start administering 1,000 doses a day with the ability to ramp up to 3,000 a day dependent on supply. At this time, residents must have an appointment in order to receive the vaccine. While walk ups are not currently allowed, they may be permitted in the near future.

Assistance will be available to any resident with accessibility needs. Residents must bring a valid photo identification, and no citizenship questions will be asked. Residents may register with the state by calling 1 (855) MD-GOVAX or by visiting COVIDVax.Maryland.gov.
