ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Bureau of Highways’ Traffic Engineering Division will hold a second community outreach meeting on Wednesday, April 23rd from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Media Room at Elkridge Elementary School, to present its final traffic calming plans for Furnace Avenue and Hanover Road. The project will implement strategies available in the County’s recently updated Howard County Neighborhood Traffic Calming Policy, to combat excessive vehicular speeds along these two roadways.
Neighborhood traffic calming is an important part of our efforts to ensure greater safety and accessibility on residential roadways across our community. This past year, we released our new traffic calming policy for Howard County and invested an additional $500,000 for implementation. Through these efforts, we are committed to working with our community to reduce speeding and promote transportation safety across Howard County.
Though there will be no formal presentation at this informational meeting, DPW staff will be on hand to discuss the updated traffic calming design and construction work, answer questions, and gather public comment.
