ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Government offices, 50+ centers, and animal shelter will be closed in observance of the Good Friday holiday on Friday, April 3rd. However, local Maryland courts and the County’s Alpha Ridge Landfill will be open, and there will be regular Friday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim, and food scrap collections.
 
County parks, the Gary J. Arthur, North Laurel and Roger Carter Community Centers, and Robinson Nature Center will also be open on Good Friday; however, the Cedar Lane and Schooley Mill Activity Rooms, Meadowbrook Athletic Complex, Harriet Tubman Cultural Center, Kiwanis-Wallas Hall, and The Capitoline Center will be open only for scheduled programs.
 
Additionally, while Recreation & Parks community centers and facilities will be closed on Sunday, April 5th for the Easter holiday, County parks will remain open on April 4th and 5th. The Ellicott City B&O Station Museum will be open on the 3rd and 4th but will be closed on the 5th. Moreover, the newly renovated Firehouse Museum will be opening its doors on the 4th but will be closed on the 5th. Other county historic sites in Ellicott City are currently closed for the season and will open to the public the first weekend in May.
 
The Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) will operate on a regular weekday schedule on the 3rd; for more information on RTA, call 1-800-270-9553 or visit www.transitrta.com. Parking regulations and fees will be in effect on Good Friday, but will not be enforced on Easter Sunday.
 
The 9-1-1 Center, Police and Fire departments remain staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies, call 9-1-1; for non-emergencies, call 410-313-2200.
 
County operations will resume on Monday, April 6th, at regular business hours.

Finally, please note, Monday, March 30th through Thursday, April 2nd, are Howard County Government Energy Saving Days. During these days, various County employees will be teleworking and available by phone and email as several County buildings and offices will be physically closed.
