ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to upgrade the water main along northbound Marriottsville Road between Albeth Road and both I-70 eastbound ramps is expected to begin on or about Monday, January 31. Construction hours are scheduled, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The 12-inch water main will be replaced with 16-inch water main to enhance the flow and reliability of the water supply and improve available fire protection resources. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by early April.

Flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed and signs will be posted to alert residents and motorists of the construction, as occasional lane shifts can be expected during construction hours.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
