ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced the beginning of the public input process as the County prepares to submit its annual Priority Letter to the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). The Priority Letter recommends Howard County Government’s prioritized transportation projects for MDOT’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-2028 Consolidated Transportation Program. To be submitted to MDOT in February, the letter is a result of review and input by County staff from several departments, elected and appointed officials.

Ensuring safe, reliable, equitable and accessible transportation infrastructure is a priority as we work towards a more multi-modal society. MDOT and the Maryland General Assembly have a unique opportunity this year to address significant statewide transportation and economic development needs. Our Priority Letter is an important tool to guide the state transportation investment decisions, and help identify projects that will have the greatest impact on our resident's daily lives.
