ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, August 4 starting at 7:00 p.m., to present plans for a stream restoration project along Rogers Avenue in Ellicott City. The purpose of the project is to reduce stream bed and bank erosion and to protect the surrounding infrastructure.

The project will start approximately 500 feet north of Oak West Drive on Rogers Avenue and extend downstream and will involve the restoration and stabilization of approximately 1,200 linear feet of a tributary to the Sucker Branch. The project will include the grading of the streambanks and placement of riffle grade control structures and rock step pools to stabilize the stream and decrease erosion. In addition, two outfall channels from storm drains located along the south side of the tributary will be stabilized using rock step structures. These stabilized outfall channels will extend to the convergence with the tributary. This project is expected to begin in September 2020.
