ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Phase II of a Howard County construction project to restore and stabilize a portion of the Little Patuxent River in Ellicott City is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, July 8. The project will include restoration and stabilization of approximately 1,300 linear feet of the Little Patuxent River starting at Frederick Road and extending upstream. In addition, the project will include grading of the streambanks and placement of riffle grade control structures and woody material at the toe of the banks for erosion protection. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late November 2019.

The project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic; however, signs will be posted in the area to alert residents of the project.

This project is funded through the Howard County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund and will reduce the amount of sediment flowing downstream. The project will also help the streambanks from further eroding and the ecological functions of the channel and floodplain through revegetation of the riparian buffer areas.
