ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Patapsco Room of the Miller Branch Library located at 9421 Frederick Road in Ellicott City, to present plans for a stream stabilization project in Columbia.

DPW’s Bureau of Environmental Services plans to complete a stream stabilization project on an unnamed stream, a tributary to the Little Patuxent River, located at the intersection of Phelps Luck Drive and Wild Lilac in the Wood Creek community in Long Reach. Like many streams in the area, this stream has been impacted by stormwater and has eroded. The proposed stream stabilization project will utilize a method of bank and outfall stabilization and is expected to create a more stable conveyance system. Construction is scheduled to begin in winter 2019.

The informal meeting will include a brief overview of the project and semi-final construction drawings will be available for viewing. County staff and the project’s design consultant from McCormick Taylor, will be on hand to answer any questions

Those unable to attend the meeting who would like to view the plans and/or have questions should contact Mr. Brian Cleary with the DPW’s Stormwater Management Division at 410-313-6455 or email [email protected].

An interpreter for people who are deaf or hard of hearing will be available if requested seven working days prior to the meeting. Please call DPW at 410-313-3440 (voice) or use Relay at 7-1-1, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
