Howard County Seeks Nominees for “Business Recycling and Waste Reduction” and “Green Community Leadership” Awards

Nomination forms are available online – deadline is Friday, March 1

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Environmental Services has announced that nomination forms are now available for its annual “Business Recycling and Waste Reduction” and “Green Community Leadership” awards. Deadline for nominations is 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 1. “Throughout Howard County, our businesses and community organizations are making great strides towards improving the environment in a myriad of different ways,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “These awards are a great way to highlight their efforts and thank the winners for their commitment to our shared community.”

The Business Recycling and Waste Reduction Award recognizes Howard County businesses for their efforts during calendar year 2018. Work Green certified businesses are highly encouraged to apply. The Green Community Leadership Award recognizes a community group or organization that demonstrates efforts, projects or programs that help protect Howard County’s natural environment and preserve its resources. This award is open to community groups and organizations that are based in Howard County.

Awards will be presented at the 12th annual Howard County GreenFest on Saturday, April 13 at Howard Community College.
