Celebrating Value and Talent: Employment is for Everyone
Join Howard County's Offices of Workforce Development, ADA Coordination, Disability Services and the Howard County Commission on Disabilities for breakfast, a keynote address on Maryland’s Initiatives to Boost Disability Employment, and presentations from:
- Maryland Work Incentives Network
Maryland Work Incentives Network (MD-WIN) provides free benefits counseling to Social Security beneficiaries who are working or want to work and need to know how employment will affect their benefits. Understanding the options and possibilities can help a person make informed choices about increasing work earnings or going to work.
- Maryland ABLE Accounts
Maryland ABLE accounts provide a way to help individuals with disabilities save money and pay for disability-related expenses without jeopardizing benefits such as SSI or Medicaid.
- Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS)
DORS offers services to eligible people with disabilities to help them find a job or be independent. DORS employment services may include career assessment and counseling, assistive technology, job training, higher education and job placement.
Additional onsite services include:
- Get a free professional headshot;
- Bring your resumé and have it critiqued by a Workforce Development professional;
- Meet with a career coach to review your career goals and receive guidance on job search strategies;
- Discuss eligibility for DORS services and the application process with a DORS counselor;
- Network with event vendors and learn about their services.
