After the event has begun, entering campus from Hickory Ridge Road, onto Campus Drive, may be easier than using the Little Patuxent Parkway Entrance. The West Garage will be on your left.

Electric Vehicles

Take a look at some electric vehicles (EV) and talk to EV owners about their plug-in cars. Electric vehicles create less air pollution and require less maintenance! At least two EVs will be on display right outside of the SET building.

Three lucky winners will be fully equipped to explore and appreciate our environment. Pick up your ticket at the Welcome Table and enter to win the GRAND PRIZE drawing at the Recycling Division’s booth.

Meet a variety of live wildlife by visiting Scales and Tales, Echoes of Nature, and Mid-Atlantic Turtle and Tortoise Society! Do you know about Snakehead? You can learn about this invasive fish too.


T-Shirt Donation Drive

Less Plastic Please has an ongoing t-shirt drive to sew t-shirts into reusable bags to distribute for free. Their goal is to encourage less plastic use and raise awareness of the plastic pollution crisis. Please bring t-shirts to their table at GreenFest.

Do-It-Yourself Skill Share Fair

The Do-It-Yourself Skill Share Fair is a series of  demonstrations of simple DIY repairs and projects.  It will also feature a panel discussion led by our Repair Cafe fixit gurus.  Below is the tentative skill share schedule. 

10am:  Bugs That Bite
11am:  How to Make Tee Shirt Bags
12pm:  Basic Tools for Simple Home Repairs; Lamp Repair
1pm:  How to Patch a Hole & Drywall Repair; Screen Repair Basics; Caulking 101
2pm:  Ask the Fixers:  Bring Your Simple DIY Repair Questions for Our Panel

11am - 3pm:  Plastic Bag Sleeping Mats project table
11am - 3pm:  Tee Shirt Bags project table 

The Skill Share Fair will be held in Room 165 of the Science, Engineering and Technology building.

HCC SET/ Transition Howard County Repair Café - 10am to 3pm 

Do you have items in your house that need fixing or mending but you don't know how to fix them yourself? Bring your broken items such as toasters, lamps, clothing, jewelry, bicycles, vacuum cleaners or small appliances to the Repair Café! HCC SET students and volunteers will evaluate and fix as many of them as they can for FREE. Volunteers will also be available to answer questions about repairs on items that are too large or not possible to bring. Learn more and preregister your broken item here

Denim, Eyeglasses, and Shoes recycling opportunity

Bring new or gently used eyeglasses, denim, and shoes and the Omega Eta Omega chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will recycle them.

2018 GreenFest

Thank you to all who attended GreenFest 2018, and special thanks to all of our vendors, workshop hosts, volunteers, sponsors and Howard Community College. The event was a huge success with a turnout of over 1,500 people! Check out our brochure from the 2018 event!


Highlights from the event:

  • 80 vendors provided products, knowledge and service information
  • 18 sponsors helped make the event possible
  • 18,000 lbs of paper shredding was collected from 400 residents
  • 52 pairs of eyeglasses were donated to the Lions Club
  • 5 pairs of binoculars were donated 
  • 1 cell phone was collected for recycling
  • 51 compost bins were given out
  • 40 rain barrels were given out
