HPV – Learn more about the vaccine and get protected

  • There are over 100 strains of HPV, 12 are considered high risk. The HPV vaccine prevents against 9 of these.
  • Most people are not aware they have HPV, it often has no physical symptoms.
  • HPV is very common and very contagious. About 85% of people will be exposed to the virus at some point during their life.
  • HPV vaccine has a more significant impact on younger individuals prior to any HPV related exposure.
  • HPV related cancers are very slow growing and often are not detected until much later in life (after someone is eligible to receive the vaccine).
