Center Information

Located between Routes 29 and 32 near Broken Land Parkway, the East Columbia 50+ Center operates in a wing in the East Columbia Branch of the Howard County Library System on Cradlerock Way. The long-awaited new East Columbia 50+ Center with over 29,000 square feet will open with a ribbon cutting March 7, 2024, at 11 a.m., on the same campus. It was financed with $5.5 million in the FY2022 capital budget and an additional $1 million in state funding. 

NOTEFrom March 4 - 6, the current East Columbia 50+ Center will be closed, as County staff will be moving equipment and supplies into the new facility. Please note that on Tuesday, March 5, AARP Tax Aide services and the New Release Cinema program, in partnership with the East Columbia Library, will still be held. All other regularly scheduled programming will be cancelled during the closure. The Center will return to its normal operating hours and programming schedule, Friday, March 8, after the grand opening on Thursday.

For those who prefer to maintain their our optimal health and wellness without leaving the comfort of home,  the Howard County Office on Aging & Independence will continue to offer virtual programs and virtual fitness pass classes in addition to in-person options to engage, inspire and motivate you. GO50+ Membership Packages

Our GO50+ membership packages are designed to enhance the quality of life for the 50+ adult population that lives, works, and plays in Howard County. Live longer, healthier lives… join today! The basic membership is free and includes access to the Gary J. Arthur and North Laurel Community Centers and all Howard County 50+ Centers. The GO50+ Fitness membership adds use of the fitness rooms at 50+ centers, plus access to the Roger Carter Recreation Center. The GO50+ Pool membership includes all GO50+ benefits plus use of the Roger Carter Center pool.

Congregate Meal Menu

Content

The congregate meal program is resuming at most centers and will be offered one to two days per week depending on the site. Howard County residents aged 60 and over and their spouses of any age are eligible to participate in this program and are asked to make a voluntary, confidential donation.

Congregate meals allow older adults to enjoy a well-balanced meal in a group setting, offering the opportunity for social engagement. All of the Howard County 50+ Centers serve meals that have been planned and approved by a registered dietitian.
