Seasonal drama programs that take place in HC Public Schools are designed to extend your child’s school day with a smooth transfer of supervision from the school staff to our drama program staff. Between dismissal and program start time, children will be asked to bring a reusable water bottle and nut-free, mess-free snack to be eaten while supervised.

Broadway Babies Drama: Paw Patrol by Drama Learning Center

3-5 yrs / Classes 6 / $95

Do the Pup-Pup Boogie! Students learn singing, dancing, and acting skills as they work as part of a theatrical team. Class session culminates in a final performance for family and friends featuring props created by the students during craft time.

Beginning Acting: Disney’s AristoCATS by Drama Learning Center

Grades K-2 / Classes 10 / $245

In the heart of Paris, a kind and eccentric millionairess wills her entire estate to Duchess, her high-society cat, and her three little kittens. Laughs and adventure ensue as the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper. Now it’s up to the rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O’Malley, and his band of swingin’ jazz cats to save the day. Students will sing, dance and act, and work together towards a final performance for family and friends. Program meets weekly for 6 classes, has 2 evening dress rehearsals and 2 weekend final performances.

Hogwarts Drama Showcase by Drama Learning Center

Grades K-5 / Classes 8 / $99

Have you ever wondered what class at Hogwarts is like? Well, you are about to find out! Create your own witch or wizard persona and explore the hallowed halls of Hogwarts through the eyes of Harry Potter and friends. Bring a pencil and binder to class. Please also bring a nut-free snack to be eaten while supervised between school dismissal and when class begins. Session culminates in a short showcase performance at the end of the last class, complete with magical flair!

Disney’s Seussical Kids by Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts

6-11 yrs / Classes 11 / $205

Howard County Recreation & Parks has teamed up with Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts to produce Disney’s Seussical Kids! “Oh, the thinks you can think” when Dr. Seuss’ best-loved characters collide and spring onto the stage taking the audience on an unforgettable musical adventure! Join CCTA, this winter to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and fill the stage with song, dance, and your favorite childhood characters. Students, learn the fundamentals of musical theater including choreography, character development and stage direction. The program culminates with a full stages production complete with theatrical sets, lighting, costumes and sound! At the final class, a 7pm performance for friends and family ends the season. Students bring a nut-free snack to be eaten while supervised between school dismissal and when class begins.

Drama Learning Center and Howard County Recreation & Parks presents two shows this Winter. The show for sections 201-203 is: The Little Mermaid! “Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat?” Join Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian, and more for their under the sea adventures. The show for sections 204-206 is: Annie, Jr.! “The sun will come out tomorrow!”  Everyone’s favorite plucky orphan will get an upgrade in this modernized staging of the classic story. Learn acting, singing and dancing skills while rehearsing for the final performance. Program meets weekly for 10 classes, has 3 evening dress rehearsals and an evening final performance for family and friends. NEW! Homeschool Musical Theatre: Mary Poppins by Drama Learning Center

Grades 3-5 / Classes 15 / $250

Student’s on DLC’s stage this Winter are going to have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time on stage working as a theatrical team to tell the story of one of the world’s most famous nannies. Programs meets weekly for 8 classes and concludes with one week of dress rehearsals and two final performances for family and friends. $50 materials fee due at first class, payable to DLC.
