Howard County Recreation & Parks offers dance programs and, camps for all ages. Regardless of your experience, we offer programs and camps for beginner, intermediate and advanced level dancers. Dance styles range from Ballet; Jazz; Tap; Creative Movement; Hip-Hop; Ballroom; International; Line Dance and Swing. We offer programs during the daytime, after-school, evening, and on weekends. Camps run on a weekly basis, half-day and full-day options available.

Ever dreamed of dancing on Broadway? At this lively dance camp, shuffle ball change and groove to familiar tunes. Daily dance classes in tap and jazz explore stage presence, storytelling through dance, and even singing! Please wear clothing that is comfortable to dance in. Please bring tap shoes.
Enjoy dance classes, hearing classical ballet music, and learning the fundamental skills of dance. Enjoy additional dance classes in tap and creative movement. Child-led crafts and activities focus on building knowledge of balance, coordination and presence. Wear leotard and tights (or clothing comfortable clothing). Please bring ballet and tap shoes.
Dance your way through Barbie’s stories (Rapunzel, Princess and the Pauper, Fairytopia, Mermaidia, Magic of the Pegasus, 12 Dancing Princesses, The Three Musketeers, and Swan Lake)!
Take a quest around the world! The first stop is France to learn about ballet’s beginning. Then it’s off to Africa to explore percussive, rhythmic movement. Don’t forget Broadway and LA to learn tapping & singing! Experience a variety of dance styles.
Get your summer chill on as you explore the happily ever after of the most famous villains, heroes and their descendants. In this hip hop/jazz and tap themed dance camp, bring the fun characters and the stories to life through dance classes, crafts, student choreography and free time. Jazz (or ballet) and tap shoes required.
Get ready to slide, pounce, spiral and explode through a week of storybook adventures. Each day features a different story (such as Oh, the Places You’ll Go!) and incorporates creative dance classes to express each story. Bring ballet and tap shoes.

Join Fancy Nancy while learning dance, and of course, doing arts and crafts, singing, dressing up and improving our vocabulary! Subjects include Art (painting), Ballet (with tutus), Butterflies, and the Spa. Leather ballet shoes required.
Unicorns, mermaids, fairies, oh my! Jump into a world of make-believe, ballet and fun with this exciting and camp! Climb a sparkly rainbow, soar through the clouds as magical unicorns, swim like a mermaid, and frolic in Pixie Hollow with Tinker Belle and her friends. Each day, explore a new themed ballet and tap class, glittery crafts and play time. Ballet and tap shoes required.
Learn different princess' countries and culture through music, song, art, crafts and dance (ballet, tap, creative movement, and folk). Leather ballet & tap shoes required.
Chill out this summer with this fun, Frozen-themed camp focusing on the story and songs we love! Create winter shapes and dances, twirl through the castle like Elsa and Anna, play in the imaginary snow, build a snowman, and have a snowball fight! Learn a water dance and a little hula; experience obstacle courses to find the heart of Tafiti, enjoy a limbo challenge, tap to the sounds of the islands, and do a beautiful ballet leap as Moana sings "How Far I'll Go." Let the magic of the great classical ballets come alive to the sound of Tchaikovsky's music. Focus on traditional ballets such as Swan Lake or the Nutcracker. Bring stories to life through dance. With classes in ballet and creative movement, daily crafts, and storybooks, this is an immersive week of dancing and learning. Bring ballet shoes.
Twirl your way to becoming a dancing princess! Learn about your favorite princesses, including Jasmine, Ariel, Cinderella, and more! The water is calling! Come flip our fins to the music of Moana and The Little Mermaid! Each day, explore ballet technique, arts & crafts, and sea-worthy games as Moana and Ariel prepare for their next adventure. Bring ballet shoes and a plain white t-shirt for a craft.
Tendu, twirl, plie, and chassé your way through your favorite Princess stories. Using their familiar songs, interpret Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, Belle, Jasmine, and Ariel through dance and song. Every day includes dance, art, craft, story, and playtime. Wear leather ballet & tap shoes.
This camp is geared towards your active and imaginative child! With dance and creative movement classes offered each day, students explore the skills it takes to be super. Classes focus on strength, rhythm, confidence, balance and fun! With a daily superhero story and wearable superhero crafts, this is one action-packed week! Wear comfortable clothing.
Dance with ocean sea creatures! Explore the wonders of the sea through creative movement dance classes and performance through playful expression. Scenery for the final day performance is created during daily craft time. Wear comfortable clothing.
Want to dance like Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez? This energetic camp is designed for you to explore urban movement and contemporary dance. Build stamina, agility, rhythm and coordination while learning dancing, fitness training, discipline. Enjoy making new friends and having fun! Wear sneakers.

Dancers, explore urban dance fusion using hip hop! Learn new steps each day and make new friends while learning about coordination and body movement. Learn how to choreograph, organize, and lead youth in the creation of a Broadway number across various dance styles (from jazz to hip hop). Wear close-toed shoes.
Explore the music and fun of today’s pop star sensations including JoJo Siwa, Dove Cameron and Taylor Swift! Enjoy jazz and tap classes using popular music as inspiration for dance steps and combinations. Create crafts including jewelry and hair bows. Wear dance/athletic attire, jazz or ballet & tap shoes.
What type of dance do you enjoy? Don't know? In this fun and creative camp, explore dance genres including ballet, tap, modern/contemporary, jazz, hip hop, musical theater, and yoga. Each day includes basic steps, across the floor movements and exciting combos in a different style of dance. Bring ballet and/or jazz shoes.
Calling all wizards (and muggles)! In this exciting Harry Potter themed camp, jump on the train to Hogwarts and explore his magical world through contemporary, modern, and theater dance. Dance the waltz, skip down Diagon Alley, create your own dancing spells and movement, explore movements of mythical creatures, and play a game of dance Quidditch. Explore a different story each day. Bring ballet or jazz shoes.

Senior Tap Classics- Ever dream of dancing like Ginger Rogers or Fred Astaire? It's never too late to start! This beginning-level tap class progresses slowly and is designed for adults. Wear comfortable clothing, grab some tap shoes and join us!

Look through the brochure and find a class or program you like.
Register for the program. Let us know what you need to participate on the registration form or when you call to the person taking the registration.
Examples may include effective communication for the deaf or hearing impaired, improved signage, activity modification, additional staff training, companions, accessible equipment and facility features, and/or individualized planning for program or class participation.
Therapeutic Recreation Staff will contact you to discuss strategies for inclusion and to offer an opportunity to share additional accommodation information. You will be asked to complete this confidential survey to help us better serve you.
Each request is assessed on an individual case by case basis. Additional information may be needed to address the request.
Modifications or accommodations will be made as needed.
