Howard County Completes New Cut Road Repairs, Reopens Roadway

Howard County has completed repairs on New Cut Road where the stream bank and road collapsed from the 2018 flood in Ellicott City. The roadway, which was previously closed to through traffic, has reopened. Repairs included the construction of two retaining walls and regrading work to stabilize and strengthen the area between New Cut Road and the New Cut tributary. MD 103 Water Main Project to Begin

A Howard County construction project to relocate an existing water main along northbound MD 103, south of and including a portion of eastbound Old Columbia Pike, in Ellicott City is expected to begin on or about Monday, March 15th. Weather permitting, the County’s water main relocation project is expected to be completed by late August.

Howard County Begins Bidding Process for Ellicott City Safe & Sound Retention Pond

The bidding process has commenced for the H7 pond that is to be constructed within the northeast loop ramp of the US 29/US 40 interchange. Part of County Executive Ball's Ellicott City Safe & Sound plan, the pond will help mitigate flooding in historic Ellicott City by capturing stormwater runoff from the upper parts of the Hudson Branch Watershed and detaining it for longer periods of time.
