County Executive Calvin Ball to Announce Business Relief Grants Recipients

County Executive Calvin Ball will announce the recipients of the first round of HoCo RISE Business Relief Grants on Wednesday, July 15th at 11 a.m. at Savage Mill. Howard County allocated $5.7 million towards the grant program to provide financial assistance to businesses in targeted sectors that have been most impacted by COVID-19 and plan to re-open.

Howard County Extends Business Relief Grant Application Deadline and Expands Eligibility

Howard County has extended the HoCo RISE Business Grants deadline to Tuesday, June 30, 2020 for all three grant programs. The Storefront Retail grant now has an expanded list of eligible businesses to include other types of storefront service providers that were forced to close or operate at limited capacity. Coronavirus Updates: Howard County Testing Locations, Nursing Home Testing, EDA Reopening Resources

Two urgent care sites in Howard County are testing for COVID-19 in addition to the drive-thru VEIP site in Columbia. Yesterday, Governor Hogan announced expanded testing across the State of Maryland. Now, residents are not required to receive a referral from a medical provider to get tested at some VEIP sites and pharmacists can order and conduct COVID-19 tests. At this time, appointments and referrals are still required for testing at the VEIP site in Columbia.

Coronavirus Updates: County Executive’s Response to Governor’s Stage 1 Reopening, Pop-up Pantries, EDA Launches Business Reopening Tool

County Executive Calvin Ball released the following statement addressing the Governor’s announcement this evening: “Governor Hogan has given individual counties and regions the discretion to review our own data and make decisions about when it is appropriate for us to relax certain restrictions. Howard County does not meet many of the criteria that the Governor outlined in his four building blocks to reopen.”
