Howard County Government Closings for Independence Day Holiday on July 4th

Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, 50+ centers and Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed in observance of the Independence Day holiday on Thursday, July 4. As there will be no trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap pick-up on Independence Day, the county’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect.

Executive Kittleman signs agreement to purchase site for County’s 13th high school

On May 5, Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman announced an agreement with Chase Land, LLC and Annapolis Junction Holdings, L.P. to purchase 70 acres off U.S. Route 1 just south of Mission Road in Jessup as the future site of the County’s 13th high school. According to the Department of Planning and Zoning, population in the eastern portion of the County is expected to grow by 14 percent over the next 10 years.

Executive Kittleman presents capital improvement budget for Fiscal Year 2017

Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman presented to the County Council his $315.7 million Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for Fiscal Year 2017. The budget supports the county’s priorities, including education, public safety, transportation and infrastructure and actually provides more county funding for school projects than in FY 2016.
