Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball presented his proposed $1.88 billion operating budget for the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY 2022) to the Howard County Council. Howard County Unveils Two Innovative Nonverbal Communication Boards at Blandair Park Playground

Today Howard County Executive Calvin Ball joined the Department of Recreation & Parks to unveil two innovative nonverbal communication boards at Blandair Regional Park’s new “Play for All” playground. The boards, which were partially funded by the Howard County Autism Society (HCAS), allow nonverbal children to easily communicate without the use of personal augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball dedicated the new Biosolids Addition No. 8 at the Little Patuxent Water Reclamation Plant. When the project broke ground in 2017, it was the largest capital project in Howard County. The innovative Biosolids Addition No. 8 allowed the County biosolids program to achieve a Class “A” permit. Howard County Makes Juneteenth Official County Holiday

Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball designated June 19th, known as Juneteenth National Freedom Day, as an official Howard County holiday. Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States, marking the day when the news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached slaves in Galveston Texas, more than two years after it was signed. Photos of the event can be found here. Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and the Howard County Economic Development Authority (EDA) released a report today detailing the HoCo RISE Business Assistance Grant Program and its impact on supporting local businesses during the pandemic.
