Howard County Executive Ball Visits Mobile Vaccine Clinic

Today, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball visited the mobile vaccine clinic at St. John Baptist Church in Columbia. This clinic is one of the first focused on equitable distribution of vaccine to hard to reach communities, an initiative Ball launched earlier this month. The clinic was operated by the Mobile Integrated Community Health (MICH) team, a program of the Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Howard County Will Follow Governor’s Expanded Vaccine Eligibility

Today, Howard County announced it will follow the expanded eligibility for vaccination laid out by Governor Hogan. The Howard County Health Department will begin scheduling vaccine appointments for all groups in Phase 1C, beginning Monday, March 22, and follow other recommendations for expanded eligibility as supply allows.

Howard County to Receive $63 Million from American Rescue Plan

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced the County is expecting $63.1 million in federal relief funding from the American Rescue Plan Act passed by Congress and signed this afternoon by President Biden. Funding was allocated on a population basis and must be used by December 31, 2024.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano and Board of Education Chair Dr. Chao Wu announced that more than 90% of Howard County Public School System educators have received at least their first dose or are scheduled for their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
