Historic Ellicott City’s St. Luke AME Church Retaining Wall Repair Project Has Begun

A Howard County construction project to repair and replace the stacked stone retaining wall aside St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, located at the intersection of Main Street and Ellicott Mills Drive in Historic Ellicott City is underway. The project will include the stabilization and shoring up of the steep slope and the armoring of the stream banks that were damaged by the 2016 and 2018 floods.

A Howard County project to replace an antiquated cast iron water main with fusible PVC water main along Old Lawyers Hill Road in Elkridge is scheduled to begin on or about Wednesday, September 11. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late November.

Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, 50+ centers and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 2. As there will be no trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap collection on Labor Day, the County’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect. River Road Retaining Wall Rehabilitation to Begin

A Howard County construction project to replace a damaged retaining wall approximately 0.4 miles north of 560 River Road in Sykesville is expected to begin on or about Monday, August 19. During the project, the roadway from the south end of River Road to the project site will be closed to thru traffic. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late September.
