ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman will hold an informal meet and greet to welcome food trucks to the Gateway Innovation District.  Starting this week, food trucks will have a designated parking area at 6821 Benjamin Franklin Drive in the Rohde and Schwarz parking lot and will be serving lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

In February, Kittleman announced that food trucks would be included as an important amenity as the Innovation District grows.  The launch of the food truck initiative also comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that the Howard County Innovation Center would be created within the county-owned Gateway Building.  Columbia Gateway is already home to more than 400 businesses and 26,000 employees.

Food trucks have grown in popularity in Howard County in recent years, serving a wide variety of cuisine, including ribs, pasta, cupcakes, tacos, quesadillas, barbecue, burgers and more.
