County Executive Kittleman launches loan program to assist building owners with energy improvements

ELLICOTT CITY, MD –Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman will launch the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) loan program for commercial, industrial and nonprofit property owners.  This innovative program will assist building owners in securing no-down-payment, low-interest loans from private lenders to make energy efficiency improvements. The loans will be repaid to the County as an additional assessment on property taxes over 20 years, with the County forwarding the payments to the lender to satisfy the loan.

WHY:             

PACE is an innovative loan program that will allow owners of commercial, industrial and nonprofit properties to leverage private capital to finance 100% of efficiency and renewable energy upgrades which are then repaid as a long-term surcharge on their property.  PACE makes energy upgrades accessible, allowing owners to reduce energy and operational costs and improve their property values.
