ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to replace the principal spillway of a detention pond on Murray Hill Road in the vicinity of Vollmerhausen Road in Columbia is expected to begin on or about Monday, October 3. The project will involve grading to provide greater stormwater management capacity and replacement of the pond’s principal spillway. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-January 2017.

Temporary, partial westbound lane closures on Vollmerhausen Road can be expected during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed. In addition, sections of sidewalk along the west side of Vollmerhausen Road and near the southeast corner of the intersection of Murray Hill Road and Vollmerhausen Road and a portion of the walking path between the west side of Vollmerhausen Road and 7635 Murray Hill Road will be closed during the project. Signs will be posted near the site to advise motorists and pedestrians of the construction.

This project is funded through the County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund.
