Howard County announces slight revision to Ellicott City Main Street access schedule

August 18, 2016

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Government this afternoon announced a slight revision to the scheduled access for residents, merchants and building owners to Ellicott City’s Main Street through Monday, Aug. 22.

The new hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting Friday Aug. 19 and continuing through Aug. 22. The change will enable county public works crews more time each morning to conduct a thorough inspection of infrastructure.

“We have said from the start that public safety is one of our primary concerns,” said Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman. “With recent rains earlier this week and last night, and with the ground saturated, we just want a little more time to be able to ensure that safety on a daily basis. From the start, this has been a very dynamic situation and we appreciate the patience and understanding of those affected.”

As a reminder, cars, vans, pickups and small box trucks up to 15-feet long will be allowed to enter the Main Street area for the retrieval of larger items and belongings. Those planning to bring a vehicle must call 410-313-2900 to have access approved and scheduled. Those accessing properties will be allowed to make multiple visits during the five-day period.
