Executive Kittleman announces vision, key appointments for historic Ellicott City recovery effort

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman will announce the next phase of the flood recovery plan for downtown Ellicott City including key appointments to help lead the effort.  After nearly two weeks, significant progress has been made to stabilize the site and begin clean-up.  Now the time has come for the county to focus on a path forward. 

In addition to the appointments, the County Executive and Councilman Jon Weinstein will announce legislation to assist property owners impacted by flooding countywide.

To announce the oversight of the next recovery phase for Ellicott City and provide a photo/video opportunity for media along Ellicott City’s Main Street

Following the media announcement, outlets will have another escorted opportunity to visit Main Street. Each outlet will be allowed to bring a videographer and reporter and will be transported by van to the scene.  No more than two participants per outlet will be allowed.  Media will be transported to Main Street where crews will be given the opportunity to gather photos and video. 

Recommended footwear is over-the-ankle work boot or hiking boot. No open-toed shoes allowed.
