ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A developer project to install a sewer manhole and a storm drain manhole on Furnace Avenue in Elkridge is scheduled to begin on or about Tuesday, May 31. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late June.

Furnace Avenue between Main Street and Railroad Avenue will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the project. Traffic will follow a clearly marked detour using Main Street, U.S. Route 1, Old Washington Road, Hanover Road and Race Road. Local traffic will be able to access Furnace Avenue but will not be permitted to pass through the excavation site. Signs will be in place to advise motorists of the construction and detour. A recorded message at 410-313-3638 will carry project details and updates.

For questions or concerns about this project, contact Lisa Brightwell, Public Works Customer Service, at 410-313-3440 or email publicworks@howardcountymd.gov.
