Cheer on the Runners at the 2016 Penguin Pace 5K Race

Come and enjoy the 21st annual running of this 5K race. Proceeds from this event support the many Bain 50+ Center activities and provide a variety of additional health, educational, art and social activities to seniors throughout Howard County.

Annual Child Care and Preschool Information Fair

Howard County’s “Children on Board” Child Care and Preschool Information Fair features information for parents, grandparents, guardians and child care providers on pre-school and child care programs and services available in the county for young children. Admission is free; however, attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Howard County Food Bank. The 2016 Early Parent’s Guide to Howard County will also be distributed at the event free of charge. The guide will be available online in mid-January at www.howardcountymd.gov/parentsguide.

On this holiday, celebrate the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln by learning about these great leaders, their families and how they influenced our nation. Children, grades 3 through 6 will hear stories, play games and enjoy hands-on activities in this one-room schoolhouse built in the 1880s.
