COLUMBIA, MD – Howard County’s Department of Recreation & Parks is seeking independent contractors to instruct adult educational and recreational classes and programs in a variety of disciplines. The Department welcomes new instructors to start teaching as early as this coming fall. Deadline to apply is Monday, May 13, 2019. 

“At Recreation & Parks, we strive to offer adult classes and programs that educate and entertain residents,” says Cultural Arts and Adult Programs Coordinator Karen Bradley Ehler. “Teaching is a fantastic way to share a skill or hobby with the community. We want instructors who can bring a new idea to our existing lineup of great classes and programs.”

Class and program contractor responsibilities include the creation of a course curriculum, the daily class operations and any administrative duties required by the program. Required skills include attention to detail, organizational skills and previous experience teaching or leading groups. All applicants must be at least 21 years of age, and must provide proof of training or experience in the field they wish to teach.
