Rockburn Branch Park outfall retrofit and bioretention construction to begin

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to repair and adjust an eroding drainage area at 6105 Rockburn Branch Park Road in Elkridge is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, June 15. The project will include construction of a bioretention system, approximately 100 feet in length and 30 feet in width, at the end of the parking lot near the park’s lower baseball fields. The bioretention system will consist of a planted area surrounded by three- to four-foot high grassy berms, which will intercept runoff to allow it to penetrate back into the soil. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid August.

The project will not impact vehicular or pedestrian traffic in the area; however, parking access may be interrupted in the vicinity of the construction access point.
