County Executive Kittleman seeks members for Howard County’s Cable Advisory Committee

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving a five-year term on the Cable Advisory Committee. The Committee provides recommendations to the Executive and Council on matters related to the cable television.

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be Howard County residents, 18 years of age or older, have an interest in cable and be able to attend the Committee’s meetings held quarterly on the second Tuesday in March, June, September and December at 7:00 p.m. at the George Howard Building in Ellicott City. Additional meetings may be called for by the Committee Chairperson when, in his or her opinion, it is important to consider a matter immediately.

Applicants should send a resume and a brief letter explaining why they want to serve on the Committee to: Howard County Government, Office of the County Executive, Attn: David Lee, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21043. The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the County Executive for approval and then to the County Council for confirmation. The deadline to apply is Friday, September 4.

As part of the Department of Technology and Communications, the Office of the Cable Administrator oversees the performance of the cable providers in Howard County and the operation of the public access cable channel. The Office also investigates cable related complaints, negotiates resolutions with the cable providers and periodically reports incidence to the county's Cable Advisory Committee.
