    Safety Reminders

    • Ask for help if you need it. Fire and Rescue is nearby to advise.
    • Wear gloves and boots (or closed toed sturdy shoes), and sunscreen.
    • Hydrate and take breaks.


      Load dumpsters from back to front. Pack as full as possible. Do not throw items.

      Where: “Trash” dumpsters.

      What: Household items, furniture, construction & building debris, sediment, merchandise, TV’s, electronics.

    Scrap Metal

      Load dumpsters from back to front. Pack as full as possible. Do not throw items.

      Where: “Scrap Metal” dumpsters, or next to trash dumpsters.

      What: Metal items, refrigerators, washers, dryers, small appliances, metal shelving.

    Hazardous Waste

      Leave material in original packaging. Place carefully in carts.

      Where: Yellow carts labeled Hazardous Waste

      What: Materials such as paint, pesticides, household cleaners, aerosol cans, batteries.

      NOTE: Maryland Department for the Environment Hazardous Materials Unit will properly dispose of hazardous items. NO biohazard materials.

    Food Waste: No Liquids

      Where: “Food Waste” containers

      What: Spoiled food including fruits, vegetables, cereals, grains, meat, fish. No liquids.


      Food/Beverages: Pour down the kitchen drain.

      Water from basements: Determined on a case-by-case basis - contact County staff before pumping. Do not assume the storm drain is available.

Curbside Trash/Recycling Collections

    We are not able to collect material from Main Street. Residents and businesses not receiving curbside collection should use provided dumpsters.

    The following streets will receive NORMAL trash, recycling, and yard trim collections services.

      • West Main Street (between Ellicott Mills Drive and Rogers Avenue)
      • Old Columbia Pike (east of Brittany Drive)
      • Nelson House Road
      • Edith Court
      • Sears House Court
      • Victoria Falls
      • Overlook Drive
      • Hunt Avenue
      • Howard Street
      • Woodrow Street
      • Hunter Road
      • St Paul Street
      • Hill Street
      • Merryman Street

    All normal rules apply to trash, recycling, and yard trim collections.
