    National Night Out

    National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while fostering a true sense of community.

    The National Night Out kick-ff event will be held on Main Street in Ellicott City (lot D) at 6:00 p.m. Residents are encouraged to join us at the kick-off event, attend an event in their community (list available here) or host their own (register a party here)!

    The Collision Avoidance Training (CAT) program is a defensive driving and vehicle control program for young drivers developed by the National Traffic Safety Academy. During the one-day course, adapted from law enforcement training, young drivers learn how to better handle their vehicles in various situations. Participants must be ages 16-20, possess a valid Maryland "Class C" driver’s license (no learner's permit) and bring a vehicle to drive during the practical exercises. Cost is $95. Participants must register in advance by contacting program coordinator Jessica Beram at JBeram@howardcountymd.gov.
