Collision Avoidance Training

Event Start Date: 4/21/2018
The Collision Avoidance Training (CAT) program is a defensive driving and vehicle control program for young drivers developed by the National Traffic Safety Academy. During the one-day course, adapted from law enforcement training, young drivers learn how to better handle their vehicles in various situations. Participants must be ages 16-20, possess a valid Maryland "Class C" driver’s license (no learner's permit) and bring a vehicle to drive during the practical exercises. Cost is $95. Participants must register in advance by contacting program coordinator Jessica Beram at JBeram@howardcountymd.gov.

Citizens Police Academy

HCPD's Citizens Police Academy is a free, interactive, 12-week course that gives participants (Howard County residents age 18 and older) an inside look into the department’s day-to-day operations and training exercises.
