Executive Kittleman announces Health Department partnership with Grassroots Crisis Center to provide screening and referrals for substance use treatment 

Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman announces a new partnership between the Howard County Health Department and Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center to provide substance use screenings and referrals to treatment. Under the new agreement, Grassroots will increase its capacity to provide in-person screening to adults, youth and families dealing with substance misuse issues, aided by the technical assistance, training and community promotion provided by the Health Department.

Howard County to receive state grant to fund ‘Heroin Coordinator’ in the fight against opioid addiction

Howard County has been awarded a $70,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) to create a new position focused on combatting heroin and opioid addiction. A collaborative effort among the Executive’s office, Police Department and Health Department, the new position will give the County another tool in its fight against this epidemic, which continues to claim increasing numbers of lives each year.
