Safety Symposium

safety symposium crowdThe regional Safety Symposium is a one-day event that focuses on ways to diminish hazards that emergency responders encounter during incidents. The symposium is also aimed at creating a dialogue to further the health and wellness of personnel.

Through the Department’s various safety, health, and wellness programs we continue our goal of providing the highest level of protection for all our personnel. Whether it be through our annual physical evaluation and screening requirements, our tobacco policy, our comprehensive initial training and continuing education requirements, the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Program, the Johns Hopkins Cardiovascular Prevention Program or our Blue Card ICS Training Program, we manage the risks and reduce the hazards to ensure that our career and volunteer personnel members return home each day. This Safety Symposium will give us each a unique opportunity to share lessons learned, hear best practices from around the region and partner agencies, and collaborate to develop exciting new initiatives.
