Student Volunteers

The Howard County Sheriff's Office recognizes that part of its commitment to community involvement is the development of a Student Volunteer Program that collaborates with local colleges and universities. The program provides students with the opportunity to observe and participate in designated activities with the Sheriff's Office while allowing the Office to observe potential deputy applicants in action. The focus of the program is to expose Student Volunteers to a variety of different positions and duties within the Sheriff's Office.

Volunteer placements range in duration from 20 to 30 hours and must be completed within one college semester. Preference will be given to those students majoring in criminal justice and public policy, though students from all academic subjects are encouraged to apply.
