Emergency Preparedness & Response
Emergency Preparedness & Response Mission:
The mission of the Howard County Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Program is to prepare the County and its health care system to respond to acts of terrorism and other naturally and manmade public health emergencies.
To carry out this mission, Howard County Health Department has developed plans in cooperation with other County, State and federal agencies to mitigate or lessen the effects of, prepare for, respond to and recover from a public health emergency. Comprehensive emergency response and preparedness plans are developed and federally funded through a cooperative partnership with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) Office of Preparedness and Response (OP&R).
