C.E.R.T.
The Community Emergency Response Team is a nationwide program designed to educate local residents about desaster preparedness for hazards and emergencies - both natural and man-made - that may strike their local area. The goal of C.E.R.T. is Howard County is to train volunteer residents in basic disaster response skills - light fire suppression, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.

Fire Safety House
The department has a mobile safety trailer that children can enter and practice safe evacuations. As well, general home safety, smoke detectors, and exit drills are discussed. Arrangements should be made by submitting a public education request form.
Fire Station Tours
Citizens and community groups are welcome to take a tour of any fire station. Arrangements should be made by submitting a public education request form.
Public Education Visits
Public safety begins with public awareness. Make a public education request for birthday parties, community events, classrooms, etc. A wide variety of topics can be covered and fire apparatus can be displayed. When making a request, please be aware that dates and times may need to be adjusted, so someone will contact you for final details.
