Local Children's Board
The Howard County Local Children's Board is comprised of public and private members working collaboratively to ensure a strong continuum of services for families and children in our community. Also known as the Local Management Board, there is a functioning board in all 24 jurisdictions in Maryland. We work in partnership with the Governor's Office for Children to ensure children grow up healthy, secure and successful.
Recently, The Board has identified priorities and designed strategies to help ensure Howard County is a place where all children thrive. Based on data gathered, the following child well being results have been chosen for Howard County:
Children Safe in Their Homes and Communities
Children Successful in School
The Howard County Local Children's Board (LCB) is currently accepting Letters of Intent from programs seeking funds to serve Howard County children and youth in Fiscal Year16 (July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016). The target population for these funds is students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, with a focus on “at-risk” youth. While the children and youth are the primary consideration, strategies to engage their families will also be considered. These programs may be community based or school based. The LCB is most interested in programs/strategies that promote positive outcomes and ensure that children and youth are actively engaged in their community. Current and past recipients of LCB funding, as well as new programs that serve children and youth are welcome to submit a Letter of Intent. For more detailed information, click HERE.
Note: This is not a request for funding, but rather the required first step in formally applying for funding for your program. The ability of the Local Children's Board to fund any or all proposals received is contingent upon its receipt of funding from the State of Maryland.
