Medicare Information & Education Events NEW Schedule
The Howard County State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) provides education and counseling, the most universal and critical needs for today's Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and/or caregivers. Our trained staff and volunteers provide information and counseling services - free, unbiased and confidential - for all Medicare beneficiaries, regardless of age.
If you have any questions with these or other Medicare topics, we can be of help:

- Prescription Drug Plans or Medicare Advantage/Health Plans
- Supplemental Policies
- Help with Costs
- Fraud & Abuse (Senior Medicare Patrol)
The Howard County SHIP program offers one-on-one sessions, available by appointment only, in 50+ centers across the county; home visits are available, if needed. SHIP also provides public education and outreach on Medicare and related programs, with presentations scheduled throughout the year or made available for groups on request (see links at the top or bottom of the page for a list of upcoming Medicare information events).
Please call 410-313-7392 to leave a message for general inquiries or to schedule an appointment at the Bain Center; a SHIP Counselor will return your call on a timely basis (within 1 to 2 business days). Appointments are also offered at the Ellicott City 50+ Center, Glenwood 50+ Center, and North Laurel 50+ Center on a more limited basis (see below). Please be aware that meetings with a SHIP Counselor are by appointment only.
To schedule an appointment at the other centers, please call the telephone numbers below during normal business hours:
Ellicott City 50+ Center
|Appointments are scheduled on Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.
Glenwood 50+ Center
|Appointments are scheduled on the second Tuesday morning of each month.
North Laurel 50+ Center
|Appointments are scheduled on the first and third Thursday mornings of each month.
The Bain Center
|Appointments are scheduled daily.
