Dealing With Debt Collection Workshop

As part of 2012's Consumer Protection Week, the Office of Consumer Affairs will offer an information seminar on Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at the East Columbia Branch Library, 6600 Cradlerock Way in Columbia.  The seminar will offer attendees with an overview of OCA’s many services and highlight its newest factsheet, “Dealing with Debt Collection.”

“During tough economic times, it’s not unusual for consumers to get behind in their bills and while consumers need to act responsibly in paying their debts, they should not be subject to unfair or abusive debt collection practices,” said Rebecca Bowman, Office of Consumer Affairs Administrator.  “Our seminar and factsheet will hopefully help consumers better understand their rights and responsibilities.”
