About Recreation and Parks

Camp of the Week, May 21: Space is now open for “Hands-On Archaeology,” an exciting one-week camp that explores the history right in your backyard. Campers learn how to excavate historic sites and have the chance to find and keep artifacts thousands of years old. Click here for more information.

May 23: A few spots remain for a new section of Let’s Go Fishing, starting Wednesday, May 23! This beginner parent/child fishing class is a great way to spend quality family time together while learning a lifelong outdoor skill! All equipment and bait provided – no experience necessary. Click here to register.

June 2, 10 AM: You are invited to join County Executive Ken Ulman and Recreation and Parks Director John R. Byrd for the grand opening of the Rockburn Park Skills Course. For more information, click here.

The Recreation and Parks Advisory Board has extended the time period for accepting public comments about the proposed Dog Park at Blandair until June 15. All comments will be added to those that were received earlier or orally presented at the Public Hearing that was held on May 17 at the Department of Recreation and Parks. You may submit your comments here or e-mail your comments to Brenda Mercado at: bmercado@howardcountymd.gov.
