ABOUT WELLNESS WORKS

Overview

The Wellness Works in Howard County program is intended to help employees enjoy the maximum level of personal wellness – and save costs along the way.

Vision

The employees of Howard County Government and its allied agencies will enjoy the maximum level of personal wellness, and the organizations they work for will have a highly engaged and productive workforce.

Goal

To establish and sustain a comprehensive wellness program in which individuals can take charge of their personal well-being and their organizations can realize health care savings.

Objectives

  • Encourage at least 70% of employees to take a Health Risk Assessment (HRA) before December 2009.
  • Develop interventions, worksite activities, and outcomes measures based on evidence-based standards during the first year of implementation.
  • Increase the number of preventive care physicals by June 2010.

Who May Participate

Some programs, such as lunch-n-learn sessions, are open to all Howard County employees.

However, you must be eligible for employee health care benefits to participate in a wellness screening, complete a Health Risk Assessment, and receive a $50 check.*

Employees of the following agencies may participate:

  • Howard County Government
  • Howard County Library
  • Health Department
  • Department of Social Services
  • Circuit Court
  • District Court
  • Economic Development Authority
  • Mental Health Authority
  • Board of Elections
  • State’s Attorney
  • Sheriff’s Office
  • Soil Conservation Services

*This $50 incentive is available until June 30, 2009, but you may complete a Health Risk Assessment at any time.
